When we arrived in Salzburg, our group walked through the city. We passed through the gardens of Mirabell Place. We also passed Mozart's birth place. Our last stop was Hohensalzburg Castle. It took over 600 years to complete and was never fully conquered. It is one of the largest medieval castles of all of Europe. We had dinner at a cafe that was located on one of the castle walls. The view of Salzburg and the surrounding Alps was amazing. Walking down back to your hotel we passed Salzburg Cathedral. This is the cathedral in which Mozart was baptized as a baby boy.

Today we took a bus to Kehlsteinhaus or the Eagles Nest, as it is referred to in English speaking countries. Kehlsteinhaus was a gift to Hitler for his 50th birthday from the Nazi party. It was meant to serve as a retreat for Hitler and a place for him to entertain visiting dignitaries.

Kehlstein Summit.
After visiting the Eagles Nest we toured the places where the Sound of Music was filmed.
Schloss Leopoldskron, featured as one of the main locations in the movie.
The Sound of Music Pavilion. The song Sixteen Going on Seventeen was a part of the scene filmed here.
Great view on the way to the town of Monsee.
The church used for the wedding in the Sound of Music.
Monsee Lake, stands for Moon Lake because of its shape.
